Just heard from Mike Hayward that Falcons Autotest planned for Kensworth this Sunday will not take place.

Seventeen competitors lined up to compete the tests laid out by Clerk of the Course Mike Hayward in the field behind Falcon Vice Presidents Neil Brays House at Upper Caldecote on 9th September. There was a nice mix of drivers,with some new faces to complement the old stagers. And what a delightful mix of cars, ranging from a new Mini to a Clan Crusader, with a very nice MGB and a rare Hillman Husky thrown in for good measure.

With Arnold Lane recovering from an operation the smart money was on Keith Pettit setting FTD in his Mini and that was what happened. Not without a challenge though, from a rather unexpected car, a Kia Pride, driven by Bedford's Bob Tatum to replace his expired Fiat Uno. Bob was only five seconds behind Bob at lunchtime before Keith put on a spurt in the afternoon to end the day 13 seconds ahead.

Richard Tompkins was second in class in his Imp derived Hillman Husky, one of no less than 38 Linwood derivatives in the Tompkins stable. Class D was closely fought, all three competitors being within five seconds of each other at the close with victory going to Geoff Hodge in the RDT.

The two production classes were won by Laureen Pettit in the family Mini and R. Lambley (very sorry I don't know your Christian name) in a very nice MGB.
