RSS Feed from the Blog returns to the main site

I have restored an RSS feed from the blog to the main site. Just checked it. It does slow the page loading down a bit but I will let it run for a while and see what happens. Previously when I have included RSS feeds it has slowed loading down so much I had a lot of complaints.

The advantage of using the blog with the feed is that I can get things up on the main site very quickly, from any computer, even using a mobile phone, without the hassle of being tied to my cranky old desktop (that will be eligible for class 2 soon) and then having to use another program to upload the files.

www.classictrials.co.uk is down at the moment. The problem is on the ISP's server. They know about it and are working on it.

Rough Guide Issues

OK - I found out that the latest tweak from Googole involves Java Script and this doesn't work with all browsers. I have found a work around by changing the URL that actuates the embeded caledar.

Google’s old style calendar that can be tweaked is still available by changing the URLs from: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed

http://www.google.com/calendar/htmlembed

The downside appears to be American style dates on the Agenda. Don't know if I can resolve this but it will have to do for now.

In firefox the issues is that I have to be logged out of my own Google account for it to work on my own computer. Should be OK for everyone else.

Now just tried that on IE6 and its OK to! So I have put things back to the new Rough Guide

The Classical Gas Rough Guide is not working at the moment

It's a bad day for computers. The Rough Guide on the homepage has gone on strike. After investigation it appears Google have done an update at it doesn't work properly. It's OK on my old desktop but not on the laptop or when I use Firefox. Going onto their forum it appears I am not the only one with this problem so I'm sure they will fix it soon.

Tried to put a note on the main site and I can't access that now so it seems my ISP has got problems as well.

Hope to resume normal service as soon as possible. On my own tonight so I will go and get some fish and chip, open a bottle of beer and watch the NASCAR I recorded earlier in the week.

This is where I am keeping the Classical Gas Rough Guide up-to-date although there will still be some information on the Rough Guide page accessed from the menu bar. The reason for using the Google Calendar is that it is so much quicker to update it and I can update it from any computer.

Mike Hayward spotted it parked by Russell Bend. At first we thought it was Geoff Hodges's RDT and went looking for him to say hello. But something wasn't quite right and on closer examination it wasn't the RDT but The Sprint, built by Geoff Jackson about ten years ago. The last time I saw the car it was just finished and being driven by his sons at an Autotest. (wrote a short piece about it at the time). We presumed Geoff still owned the car and looked round for him to no avail, nor did we see anyone else with it. It still looks super, what a Dellow would have been like 10 to 20 years later, with Independent Front Suspension a more powerful engine and a properly located rear axle.
