9月18日 Dennis Sharrett Dennis Sharrett, the farmer who owned the trials venue at Edlesborough Hill, has passed away. Sad news, Dennis was a good friend of the club. He was also keen on trials himself, passengering Mike Pearson on The Edinburgh on several occassions. He helped JP, Mike and Verdun clear away the brush so Edlesborough Hill could be used for trials. On a few wet events he came along with his tractor to tow people who got stuck. A very nice man. 9月17日 Alan Davies Mike Hayward phoned last night to say that Alan Davies has died, finally loosing his long battle with cancer. Alan started his life long interest in motor sport with Motor Cycles. The first time I met him was around 1970 when he was Autocrossing his daily driver, a new Mk1 Escort. Later Alan had dedicated Anglia and Escort Autocross machinery. He was very successful with these cars and dominated the London Counties Championship for many years. In the long time he was a Falcon member Alan served the club in many of its offices, including the formidable job of taking over the chair from H. W. Tucker-Peake. In more recent years Alan steered the club through changing times when many clubs folded, guiding Falcons amalgamation with the former SODC trials group. A gentleman in every sense of the word Alan was 83 when he died. He will be sorely missed. 8月6日 Falcons Bob Tatum featured in this weeks Auto Express Mike Hayward tells me that Bob Tatum is featured (with pictures) in this weeks edition of Auto
Express telling readers how he saved money by servicing you car himself. 5月19日 Falcons PCT at Brickhill this Sunday is cancelled This event has had to be canceled due to lack of entries. It was moved to this date at the request of the BTRDA when the February event had to be called off because the event was snow bound. It then lost its MSA championship status when one of the contenders made a formal objection to the date change. As its a National B only event there are no classes for "class 8" to fit, so many of the Falcon regulars couldn't enter to bring up the numbers 3月29日 Ed Nikel had another win at Falcons Edlesbrough Trial today, dropping only one mark in his Dellow Mk2 Replica It didn't rain, in fact it was glorious weather. That made my C of the C job challenging because there was grip in abundance. It was go all day so I didn't take any photos but I'm sure there will be some to see soon. 3月25日 Can anyone help out with some marshalling at Edlesborough on Sunday? We have a confirmed entry of 27 so could be 30 on the day. Lots of different cars, Marlins, Duttons, Dellows, A Fiat X9 and a good selection of Front Wheel Drive Cars, oh and lets not forget the 1928 Humber! I would really appreciate some more marshals. If you are available please email me on mleete24@hotmail.com Michael 3月20日 Falcons Ian Lawson making sure that even if you drive an Aton Martin you go when you are told to! Ian was part of Verdun Webleys Falcon Team who ran the Special Stage at Race Retro Falcons Brickhill Trial tomorrow is cancelledWe have tried to prepare the venue but the snow is to bad. We could organise the sections but it would be impossible to get cars out of the venue. The organisers will be phoning competitors this evening. 2月5日 Falcons - There will not be a meeting tonight as the Rugby Club will not be open Shame we are trials drivers! 12月6日 Falcon Film ShowDavid Maitland had a good turn out for the Film Show on Wednesday. It was especially nice to see Derel Fleming and Den Allen who were around in the 60's when the films were made. Derek Fleming. The films were shot on 8mm by the late Charlie Palmer, a keen Falcon member and Peter Harpers mechanic during his rallycross days. We saw trials at Milk Hall Farm Chesham and a couple of places we couldn't identify. Sprints at Chaul End, the old Vauxhall test track near Luton, autotests in the Stevenage BAC car park and several autocrosses. Many thanks to David for putting it all together and finding an 8mm cine projector that worked! 9月8日 Geoff Spencer wins Falcons Autumn Antics Autotest at Kensworth
Geoff Spencer mastered the slippery conditions at Kensworth to set FTD at Falcon's Autums Antics Autotest yesterday. Falcon usually run trials at Kensworth and Clerk of the Course Peter Manning was challenged to find ground for the tests that didn't resemble a trials hill. he did so quite successfully but even so grip was at a premium. Geoff is more usually seen passengering Geoff Hodge in his RDT on trials and was surprised and delighted to beat his regular driver at Autotesting. John Plant won the FWD class in his VW Polo on his first autotest.
